Miramar was named after the Miramar District of Havana, Cuba. The word Miramar loosely translates from Spanish as “sea view” or “sea sight” although this city is not located on the Atlantic Ocean. In 1999, Spirit Airlines moved its headquarters to Miramar, Florida from Eastpointe, Michigan. The City of Miramar is one of the most “up and coming” towns in Western Broward County. The cultural diversity of this city makes it a wonderful place to raise a family.
